چکیده
asthma management is a major concern because some asthmatic patients either do not respond or else hardly respond to treatment. therefore in the present study, an attempt has been made to determine the predictors of treatment response in asthmatic patients. thirty six asthmatic adults including 13 male and 23 female were studied dur¬ing a 3 month treatment period. asthma symptom score (ss) and wheezing were recorded before and after treatment. pulmonary function tests (pfts) including forced vital capacity (fvc), forced expiratory volume in one second (fevj), peak expiratory flow (pef), maximal expiratory measured at the beginning and the end of the study. the increase in pft values 10 min after 200 ug inhaled salbutamol (in percentage) was considered as reversibility in airway constriction. there were significant improvements in ss (/jko.001) and pft variables (/;> the results of these study showed that a well conducted therapeutic program could lead to improvement in symptoms, wheeze, and pft values. in addition symptom score, wheeze, and reversibility in fev1 and pef could be good indi¬cators of response to treatment in asthma.

Clinical Factors Affecting Discrepant Correlation Between Asthma Control Test Score and Pulmonary Function
The Asthma Control Test (ACT) score is widely used in asthma clinics, particularly with the recent emphasis on achievement and maintenance of optimal asthma control. However, this self-assessment score does not always correspond with lung function parameters, leading to uncertainty about each patient's control status; therefore, we investigated the clinical characteristics that are associated w...

BACKGROUND The aim of this study is to demonstrate the importance of the relation between clinical score, pulse oximetry and spirometric tests in an asthma attack. METHODS In this randomized, double blind, observational study, 110 children (age 2-15 years) with an asthma attack who were admitted to emergency room were evaluated. Patient history, physical examination, clinical score and oxygen...

متن کاملSpirometric Evaluation of Pulmonary Function Tests in Bronchial Asthma Patients
Asthma is a complex, recurrent disease of the airways that causes shortness of breath, wheezing, and cough (particularly at night or early in the morning). Asthma is episodic in nature and usually reversible, either spontaneously or with treatment. However, chronic inflammation, associated with persistent symptoms, may contribute to airway remodeling that may not be completely reversible. Airfl...

Introduction. Evaluation is a process for merit assessment and quality improvement. During the past three decades one of the most important challenges has been student evaluation of teachers in higher education. More studies during recent decade have shown that evaluation of teachers has correlation with some variables like teacher enthusiasm, teacher rank, student expected grade and so on. T...
